Unscrupulous used ship salespeople will often turn back a ship's odometer several hundred miles to make it appear less travel-worn and weary. You should check how quickly a ship sinks before purchasing. Also make sure the brakes are in working order--it would be embarrassing to slam into a giant squid because the dealer sold you a ship with worn out brakes.
